What we do

Sometimes in our movement, the obstacles feel insurmountable. We get so focused on the people and external systems that block our progress, we neglect to see how change from within can make us more effective and inspiring. CoreAlign is where leaders come to recharge, take risks, and learn new skills to then inspire their teams, organizations, and communities to design winning solutions with and for the people they serve. We want to give you the tools, skills and practices to not just show up as a leader, but as an inspiring leader who can model resilience, vision, vulnerability and the ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.

Whether you are an executive director, program manager, healthcare provider or independent activist in the reproductive health, rights, or justice movement, CoreAlign is invested in your leadership and growth. After working with CoreAlign, leaders have the courage, community and collaborative skills they need to trust their own instincts, test new ideas, and try new approaches. We provide the support and inspiration needed to make a bigger impact and develop new solutions to both short- and long-term problems.

By doing things differently and doing different things, we can build the momentum required to create the love, sex, family, and community we all deserve. We believe that by training leaders like you in the practices of innovation and the principles of speaking race and power, we will be able to build a shared vision for long-term impact, creatively solve problems and push past movement barriers to change culture and policy.

In order to win, we need to imagine what is possible, then do what it takes to make it real. CoreAlign works with reproductive movement leaders to build a movement with the strength and courage we need to win a better day in the short run and our freedom in the long run.

At CoreAlign, our leadership development is grounded in skills, tools, and practices...
  • ...in innovation & speaking race to power
  • ...for building strength-based, highly collaborative teams
  • ...for long-term vision & strategy
  • ...to bring your team to innovative impact
  • …expand your network of learning and practice communities--at home and beyond.

Innovation

Are you hungry to do different things and do things differently? We believe in learning innovation by doing--harnessing our strengths, working through our learning edges, and building relationships through innovative work--through the lens of race and power.

We see innovation as creativity within constraint -- which is the legacy of women, people of color, queer people, and other marginalized communities who have a history of creating wildly creative solutions to meet community needs within oppressive constraints. Our process centers practicing problem-solving with
your community. We believe that solutions have to be co-created and community-driven to make a real impact.

Through our innovation trainings, you'll learn skills, tools, and practice as a community:
  • Tools to generate multiple creative solutions to solve complex problems in our current political reality, with a focus on race and power
  • A process for designing solutions with the people whose hearts and minds we are trying to engage in our communities
  • New skills, tools, and mindsets to unleash your creativity
  • Inspiration and courage to act boldly in new and collaborative ways
  • An expanded practice community of innovative changemakers--at home and beyond!

Speaking Race to POwer

Race and power continue to be some of the biggest barriers to collaboration named by leaders in our movement. When ruptures occur around race and power, many of us do not have the option to walk away from the table or from our allies. Given that, our work then is to learn how to challenge the unhealthy dynamics of race and power while staying in relationship with one another.

Speaking Race to Power training is for leaders who have a foundational understanding of structural racism and are looking to dial up skills and practices for adaptive and resilient leadership, and practices ways of challenging dominant cultural habits while building a community of support that collectively challenges white supremacy and structural racism in our organizations, communities, and movement.

Through our Speaking Race to Power trainings, you'll learn skills, tools, and practices:
  • Advanced skill-building for challenging racial dynamics and dominant cultural habits in multiracial settings
  • Lean into innovative mindsets for adaptive leadership
  • Build your network of co-conspirators to learn and practice with --at home and beyond!

IMPACT Labs

Sometimes, and for some of us, generating creative solutions to challenging and complicated problems is the best part of our day. However, we work in organizations and teams where folks want a little bit more proof of concept before they jump on board with an idea or are willing to invest resources.

In our Impact Labs we offer the space for teams of people to test their ideas; to take their ideas from contemplation to planning to action. Labs are a space to work your idea, get feedback, do research, and most importantly to prototype. Prototyping is a way to test a minimal viable version of an idea, tune into what you didn’t know about how it would work, notice any assumptions you made, and iterate to improve and strengthen it, before you convince other people to implement or scale it.

So, if you have an idea or a team that’s ready to roll their sleeves up and start working on a problem together, we’ll provide the support you need to generate, prototype, and test multiple solutions or ideas. You don’t have to experiment alone; we are here to help with tools, processes and coaching.  Applications are rolling.

IMPACT Consulting

Have an interesting, pressing or entrenched problem that you’re trying to solve? Bring us on as strategic consultants to design a collaborative and action-oriented process rooted in the key concepts of innovation and speaking race to power. Either through in-person facilitation or remote coaching, our expert staff will tailor a unique approach to guide your project, organization or coalition to innovative solutions with maximum impact.

CoreAlign wants to support you in solving your unique problem. We’ll start out by offering you 10 hours of support pro-bono and work with you to establish an hourly or daily rate after that. Some specific areas in which we can assist you, your team, or your organization include:
