by Sujatha Jesudason, Executive Director

On Saturday, April 30, I will begin a four month sabbatical to replenish my reserves and creativity.
This event is an exciting (and slightly nerve-racking) milestone for me and for CoreAlign. Four years since founding CoreAlign, and years with two start-ups before that, I’ve learned that I am missing my joy and running on fumes. At the same time, our programs are stabilizing and expanding with amazing internal leadership in ways that make this sabbatical possible. As we’ve planned for this time, it has been thrilling and reassuring to intentionally transfer the vision, strategies and DNA of CoreAlign to others in the organization, and it has been a great opportunity for them to step up and broaden their leadership.

I’ll be in attendance at our inaugural Innovation Convening in Oakland next month primarily to play and participate. I’m excited to experience and explore all the art, design and play spaces alongside more than 100 innovators and collaborators.
After the Innovation Convening, I’m going off the CoreAlign-grid to find my joy again by learning Bruno Mars's “Uptown Funk” and Beyonce's “Formation” Super Bowl dances - my only sabbatical plans as of now (besides for some beach time somewhere).
I’m grateful for the hard work and trust from both the CoreAlign team and you, our friends, partners, co-conspirators and co-creators that made this break possible. During my sabbatical, Deputy Director Sarah Frankfurth will serve as interim director. I am working through Friday, April 29, should you need to reach me or want to send choreography tips; otherwise, I’ll get your email after I return September 1.
Warmly,
Sujatha
