This month, CoreAlign celebrates our fourth birthday. In these four years of working to support people in the fight for the resources, rights and respect for their sexual and reproductive lives, we have been honored to meet and work with nearly 800 leaders across the country.
To commemorate this anniversary, four of our team members share their reflections on the year they joined CoreAlign and today:

Sujatha Jesudason
When I co-founded CoreAlign in 2012, I knew that we needed to be doing something different – as a movement we were getting our asses handed to us.
Today, I know that we have the right people and we are on the right path, and all the people and possibilities I get to work with on a daily basis make me hopeful and excited about that something different.

When I joined CoreAlign in 2013 as an organizer and fellow, I wondered what it would look like to decentralize resources in a way that it would be possible for everyone to have the necessary tools to meaningfully fight for reproductive justice, regardless of where they live.
Today, I am thrilled that we are centering crucial work in the Central and Southern US by continuing to build a thriving field program to explore barriers and co-create innovative solutions in 10 states, and by supporting our current Generative and Speaking Race to Power fellows, nearly half of whom are doing work on the ground in those regions.

When I joined CoreAlign in 2014 as the fellowship manager, I was excited to strengthen the design and implementation of the Generative Fellowship, our only leadership development program at the time.
Today, I’m excited that we now also have a robust Speaking Race to Power fellowship in addition to the Generative Fellowship, and that we have trained more than 100 fellows across both programs to be curious, generous, empathetic and resilient leaders committed to courageous and collaborative change.

When I joined CoreAlign in 2015 as director of design and learning, I was excited for this new opportunity to move together to advance social change so we all can experience the love, life and community we desire.
Today, I’m excited about our first round of Innovation Labs underway bringing new teams together, and about our upcoming Innovation Convening that will connect old and new friends to explore exciting new ways to build a more powerful movement for love, sex, family and community.
